McCutcheon works with var­i­ous ideas and rep­re­sents them with dif­fer­ent meth­ods rather than using a sig­na­ture tech­nique or image. As a con­se­quence, he nec­es­sar­ily fol­lows a path of dis­cov­ery both in con­cept devel­op­ment and mate­r­ial usage for each project. Work­ing through these ideas in anal­o­gous processes allows for com­plex con­nec­tions to be made between objects and images.
